Health-e-Schools at Mayland Community College

The Health-e-Schools telemedicine program at Mayland Community College is a medical office for students, faculty and staff. It's a great way for you to see a healthcare provider quickly without leaving campus or missing classes. The technology is based on high-definition videoconferencing using specially equipped stethoscopes and cameras. A Nurse Practitioner on the other end of the video-conference, along with a facilitator at Mayland, performs the medical evaluation using a special camera to examine eyes, ears, throat, & skin. An electronic stethoscope is used to listen to the heart and lungs.

We are able to provide many services, including addressing acute issues such as the common sore throat, cough or stomach ache, chronic disease management, medication management, and telepsychology / telebehavioral health.

Health-e-Schools functions just like a regular doctor's office. If you have insurance, we will bill your insurance; co-pays and deductibles will be billed to you. We also have a sliding scale fee for those without insurance.

Health-e-Schools is an additional option for busy students and busy doctors offices, and does not replace your regular doctor. Sometimes it can be hard to get in to see your preferred doctor. Sometimes you may not be so sick such that you need to miss a whole day of school to travel to your doctor. Telemedicine is available at school, five days per week, and appointments can be arranged around classes. Clinical information will be sent to your identified doctor after each telemedicine visit.

"I don't feel threatened by telemedicine seeing my patients because I know in the end I'm still their medical home."

Scott M. Rogers, MD
